Body piercing aftercare
Your piercing is a fresh wound that will take time to heal. Remember that your body is a fine tuned machine designed for healing. For this reason it is important you let your body heal without disrupting this process with dangerous and harsh chemicals.
If you wouldn’t put it in your eye, do not put it in your piercing!
Do not touch, turn, pick or play with your piercing. This will prolong the healing process and is often the cause of irritation bumps.
Look after yourself and stay healthy. If needed, wash it in the shower with fresh water. A light yellow crust can build up on the jewellery, this is a perfectly normal art of the healing process. Again, a rinse in the shower to soften it will be plenty to clean it.
Use an ice pack for initial swelling, (icecubes in a snaplock bag) and hot compress for circulation after 1 week (hotcloth in a snaplock bag).
Come see us for a 30 day check up and, if needed, downsize your jewellery to suit.
Suck on ice and rest ice on your tongue. Eat easy to chew, mild foods. Don’t use mouthwash and use minimal toothpaste. Downsize jewellery after 30 days.
If you have any concerns throughout the life of your piercing, come in and see us!
